Tuesday Play-

Today was eventful! We are so excited for break but are sad to miss these littles over the next days. Just a reminder that tomorrow is our last day before we break for Passover. We will return on Tuesday the 22.

We packed the activities in tight today, first Bedikas Chametz (we have some excellent finders) and built a giant house with our Nugget couch, then going on a 'boat ride' in the BMR (we had pretend sushi and smoothies), and lastly, working on identifying our names (because, stickers).

We have 4 littles that can pick their names out of a grouping, which is great! While we are super proud, we also know that this is a developmental progress mark and everyone develops differently. Remember, if you're practicing this skill at home: While this is considered early literacy, it is not "reading." At this age it is making the connection in the brain that written marks (letters) represent something specific (their name). Because of how abstract brain development is, this is very literal- the kids don't have the connection between the written word, and themselves yet; just the (written) word and the (combination of sounds) their name. Isn't neuron development unusual? This is one part of Scarborough's reading rope- Sight Recognition. If this is super interesting to you, I will link some info at the bottom of the page.

Check out our super cute pictures!!

Thanks for letting us venture out to break with your sweet sailors today!

MUD! WATER! And a few new activities.

There were new invitations for the children this morning; one was scooping pom-poms into a cup, and the other was a tool chest with nuts and screws.

The most interesting observation was watching the children take two unique activities and somehow find a way to combine them. These activities will be out until Wednesday, as the toys that have been out for a while will be washed and put away.

If you ask about their day, though, they will probably talk about the mud and water out in the Grove.
Why do we allow them to pour as much mud on themselves as possible?
Here are some of the benefits of playing in mud:
1. Encourages creativity
2.Builds problem solving skills
3. Uses fine and gross motor skills
4. Practice listening and taking turns
5. Mud makes us happier!
6. Inspires caring for the Earth.
7. Invites inclusive playing opportunities.
8. Builds immune system.
9.It's a total sensory experience (touch, sight, smell, sound & taste)!
10. Benefits heart and skin.
.

Lots of splashes and dirty smiling faces!

Clothes & children can always be washed!
