THANK YOU to the Olive Parents!!  You are the best!  We were so excited to explore the new fish tank, fish accessories & the stuffed Torah this morning.  We discussed  what type of fish we should get after the break.  We heard "goldfish", "purple" and "blue"... quite a few choices! Ms. Shelby & Ms. Suzanne also wish to thank you for our gifts as well - it is much appreciated!! The class was very excited as well to go outside today. It feels like we haven't been outside is MONTHS. We put on rain suits because it was still wet & icy in some places, but very warm in the sun. We first went to the playground, then to the grove, where we played with our shadows.  We also spent some time in the BMR to give our bodies a good workout.  Parents, in your child's backpack there will be gift bag from Principal Lori and Rabbi Birnhack.  Please look for it.  Thank you again! We cannot wait to have another class pet! Indiana Early Learning Founda...

Hanukkah blogget

Image
Ms. Suzanne has a very quick, toddler friendly version of the Hanukkah story, accompanied by the children using an actual shamash to light their own candle. With real fire.  And it's a lesson in responsibility with flames that the children take very seriously.  You can see it in their faces - they are doing something that they probably haven't done before, and they are quite proud of their accomplishments.  First, we had the story where we learned of Judah Maccabee and Hashem's miracle of making the oil last 8 nights.  Next the children picked out their candle; there were so many color choices! Finally, each child put their candle in the Menorah to light and then blow out the flame.  We made more Hanukkah cards with markers - one of our favorite mediums.  Have a wonderful weekend. Shabbat Shalom!

Spending Time Inside

Image
As we near to the holidays, Olive took time today to make cards for folks at Hooverwood. We even worked hard to write our names (with help.)   The bitter cold kept us inside today- but this time, Ms. Suzanne and I had a plan. Please enjoy photos of our classroom bike track experiment, as well as our borrowed bridge- great for making us "so tall!" We even spun around "like dreidels!"  Overall, an excellent day of exciting play!
